About Meet Me Halfway
Meet Me Halfway is a free, no-signup random video chat that pairs you one-on-one with a stranger anywhere in the world. We built it after Omegle shut down in 2023 to bring back instant, anonymous video chat — this time with privacy and moderation built in from day one.
Our mission
We believe a chance conversation with a stranger can be one of the most human things the internet still offers — practising a language, swapping perspectives, or just beating boredom. Our mission is to make that experience instant, free, and safe, without harvesting your data or trapping you behind an account.
Why we built it
Omegle ran for 14 years and then closed permanently in November 2023, largely under the weight of moderation and legal pressure it could no longer carry. When it went dark, millions of people lost the simplest way to meet someone new online — and the gap filled up with low-effort clones, many of which ignore safety entirely.
We thought the idea deserved better. Meet Me Halfway is our answer: the same one-click, no-account experience people loved, rebuilt on a privacy-first foundation with real moderation and clear rules.
How it's different
- Privacy-first by design. Your audio and video travel directly between you and your partner over an encrypted peer-to-peer (WebRTC) connection. The video never passes through or is stored on our servers.
- No signup, no data selling. There is no account to create. We keep only minimal technical metadata for abuse prevention, and we never sell personal data.
- Safety taken seriously. The service is 18+ and SFW, with one-click reporting on every session and bans for rule-breakers. Read more on our safety page.
Who runs it
Meet Me Halfway is operated by a small independent team based in the Netherlands. Because we operate in the EU, we hold ourselves to GDPR standards for the limited data we handle. If something goes wrong in a chat, the in-session Report button is the fastest way to flag it — we review reports and act on abuse and illegal content as a priority.
