Safety & Moderation on Meet Me Halfway
Random video chat is only worth using if it's safe. Meet Me Halfway is an 18+, SFW, actively moderated service: every session has one-click reporting, rule-breakers are banned, and your video is never stored on our servers. This page explains exactly how that works and how to protect yourself.
Our safety commitment
Anonymous random video chat has well-documented abuse risks — it's the reason Omegle shut down. We treat safety as a core feature, not an afterthought. That means an age gate before camera access, visible reporting on every chat, enforcement against abusers, and a privacy-first design where your audio and video travel peer-to-peer and are never recorded by us.
How matching is moderated
When you start, you're placed in a queue and paired one-on-one with another waiting user at random. You can press Next to leave any chat instantly — you are never locked into a conversation. Behind the scenes we rate-limit joining and skipping to blunt automated abuse, and we enforce a ban list at the matchmaking layer so users who have been removed can't simply rejoin and be matched again.
The Report flow
Every session shows a Report button. If a partner breaks the rules:
- Press Report.
- Choose a reason: nudity / sexual content, harassment / threats, appears to be underage, or spam / bot.
- Submit. We attach the session's details to the report so reviewers have context.
Reports are reviewed against our rules, and users who violate them are banned. Severe or repeated abuse results in a permanent ban.
What's banned
The following are never allowed and will get you banned:
- Nudity, sexual content, or any sexually explicit behaviour.
- Harassment, threats, hate, or abuse toward another user.
- Any content involving minors in a sexual context.
- Spam, scams, bots, or automated activity.
- Anything illegal under applicable law.
The full list is in our community guidelines, with the legal version in our Terms of Service.
Keeping minors out
Meet Me Halfway is for adults aged 18 and over. You must confirm your age and accept the Terms before the camera turns on. If a partner appears to be underage, use the "appears to be underage" report reason — we treat these reports as a priority.
Abuse handling and bans
We collect minimal technical metadata (such as IP address and session details) strictly for security and abuse prevention. We do not sell it. This lets us enforce bans and respond to reports without requiring an account or storing your conversations.
If you see something illegal
Report it immediately using the in-session Report button and include the session details. We review every report and act on illegal content as a priority.
Stay safe: your part
- Never share your full name, address, phone number, or financial details.
- Be wary of anyone asking for money, gift cards, or to move to another app.
- Trust your instincts — press Next the moment a chat feels wrong.
- Report bad behaviour so others are protected too.
